What to Wear at a Strip Club in Las Vegas (and Other Rules)

Planning to experience Sin City to the fullest? Though Vegas may have a reputation for capitalizing on hedonistic impulses, there are still some unspoken rules along with some very clearly written laws to keep in mind. This will give you the best possible experience without embarrassing yourself, or worse, getting in real trouble.

First Off, What’s the Difference Between a Gentlemen’s Club vs. a Strip Club?

Vital Vegas sums it up best:

Vital Vegas on X (formally known as Twitter)

For the sake of simplicity (and SEO) we’ll be referring to all these clubs as Strip Clubs.

Strippers are properly known as Entertainers. And to be fair, they’re 90% stripped down when you get to to the club.

What to Wear to a Strip Club (or Gentlemen’s Club)

  • Smart Casual is Key: A collared shirt, clean jeans or slacks, and closed-toe shoes will do the trick. T-shirts are fine too.

  • Ditch the Flip-Flops: Flip-flops and tanks are fine for the pool, not the club. Unless you’re worth 9+ figures, dress appropriately.

  • Clean Up: If you’ve been reliving scenes from The Hangover, take a moment to clean up before heading in. As veteran entertainer Hunni puts it, “We know if you don’t shower.”

  • It’s 2025 and times have changed. You’ll likely get away with shorts, flipf-lops, and maybe even a tank top but try keep that for the pool.

If you’re coming from a nightclub, your attire will work just fine. But if you’re three days into a bender, take a moment to clean up.

Strip Club Etiquette

The Basics

  • Tip Generously: If you’re near the stage, tip the dancer. If you just want to watch the show without making it rain, sit a few seats back.

  • No Photos or Videos: Privacy is sacred for both entertainers and guests. In the strip club, what happens in Vegas DOES stay in Vegas.

  • Respect the Dancers: Don’t be a jerk. Don’t assume anything without asking. If you’re not sure, ask. Different Entertainers have different boundaries (and prices).

  • Lap Dances: Expect to pay $20-$40 per dance. Clubs will have their standard rates but the Entertainers will still set their own prices, so don’t get taken for a ride but don’t be cheap.

Don’ts

  • Don’t ask to make out.

  • Don’t be creepy or a jerk — remember, entertainers are people too, they have friends and family and feelings.

  • Don’t touch unless invited.

Typical Costs at a Las Vegas Strip Club

Leave your debit card at the hotel and bring cash—seriously. Once drinks flow and boobs pop out, money stops feeling like money.

  • Standard Lap Dance: $20-$40.

  • VIP Experiences: Can start at $500 and go well beyond $1,000.

  • Tipping: Bring enough cash to avoid stressing over ATM fees. You can exchange larger bills for singles in the club. No need to come with a bankroll of $1’s.

  • ATM Fees will run you over $50 - Vegas will nickel and dime you whenever it can, so have a budget, bring cash, and have a great time.

Privacy is a Must

For all parties involved, privacy and discretion are paramount. Social media has changed the game, but in a gentlemen’s club, what happens there stays there.

  • Keep your phone in your pocket, and don’t film or photograph.

  • Some Entertainers may have OnlyFans accounts. If you’re looking for something to add to the spank bank, ask.

Logistics: Getting There and Back

Most strip clubs will have a pick-up service. Here are the ways for Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas, which are applicable for most other locations:

  • Pick-Up Service: Complimentary and convenient. Call the club to schedule.

  • Valet Service: Spearmint Rhino (as well as some other clubs) offers complimentary valet, which can also waive the door fee.

  • Uber and Taxis: Ideal for late-night returns when complimentary rides aren’t available.

If you need a ride back, ask the club manager. Spearmint Rhino drivers, if available, can return you to your hotel free of charge.

If you drove yourself, let them know. They may not charge your cover charge. The only reason clubs charge covers is because they have to give the taxi an Uber driver is a kickback for bringing you.

Alcohol and Nudity: The Rules

Nevada’s strip club laws are unique:

  • Topless Clubs: Serve alcohol.

  • Fully Nude Clubs: Cannot serve alcohol, except for Palomino Club which has been around longer than current laws on alcohol and nudity.

If you’re looking for a fully nude experience with drinks, Palomino is your only option.

Everything is Negotiable - Almost

While prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas, you can ask entertainers about special requests or preferences. Be respectful—they know the rules and set their own boundaries.

Club Vibes

Each club in Las Vegas has its own vibe:

Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas: The Premium Choice

While Las Vegas is home to many clubs, Spearmint Rhino stands out as the gold standard. Known for its luxurious ambiance, stunning entertainers, and top-notch service, it’s the go-to for those seeking a high-end experience.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Impeccable Service: From valet to bottle service, everything is seamless.

  • Premium Entertainers: A curated roster of the city’s most stunning dancers.

  • Exclusive Amenities: VIP rooms, private dances, and more for big spenders.

Insider Tips

  • (almost) Everything is Negotiable: From lap dances to VIP upgrades, most services are flexible—respectfully ask.

  • A little courtesy goes a long way. Treat security and staff well. A little gratuity helps, but respect and manners alone can take you very far. The staff deals with drunkards looking to “take on Vegas” every single day. Show them some respect and they’ll show you what Vegas has to offer.

  • Don’t Expect to Take It Outside: Clubs enforce strict policies against entertainers leaving with guests. Yes, exchanging numbers is possible, but don’t count on it.

  • Know the Limits: Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas. Don’t assume anything beyond what the club offers.

  • Go Solo or Bring the Crew: Las Vegas strip clubs welcome groups and solo patrons alike. With friends, the energy is dynamic, and sharing the experience can make it more memorable. If you’re flying solo, there’s no shortage of entertainment or a chance to enjoy it at your own pace. Either way, you’ll have company.

  • Get Ready for the Party: Vegas strip clubs are all about atmosphere: music, lighting, and captivating performances. Go in ready to let loose, order a drink or a bottle or 2, and take in the show. Or let the show come to you.

  • Happy Hours: If you’re out early, many clubs have amazing happy hours. For example, Spearmint Rhino’s happy hour runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering food and drink deals starting at $5 to pregame the night.

  • Peak Hours: The peak action usually hits between midnight and 3 a.m.

To Sum it Up

A visit to a Las Vegas strip club is par for the course in Sin City, offering a tasting menu of epicurean adventures—and for many, it can be a rite of passage. Just follow the rules and pace yourself with drinks (so you can actually remember the night). You don't need to dress to impress, but don't look like a schmuck either. Budget wisely, and always respect the entertainers and staff. Whether you opt for the posh Spearmint Rhino Las Vegas, the massive Sapphire, or the classic Palomino Club, following these tips will ensure a Vegas night that might not keep you out of the confessional booth, but it’ll definitely keep you out of trouble.
